TurnUp DeAnte is an artist who uses the power of music to save lives. A native of Washington DC, he remains connected to his mission of making the healing power of music accessible and available to all. His ability to perform across instruments and genres reflects his versatility and commitment to artistic excellence.
As an instrumentalist, he has contributed to acclaimed musical theater productions such as Rent, Little Shop of Horrors, Macbeth In Stride, and the Helen-Hayes Award Winning productions of The Color Purple and FELA! He was also the music director for Signature Theatres I’ll Take You There: A Stax Records Co. Cabaret, receiving rave reviews amongst a sold-out audience every night.
DeAnte’s diverse career includes leading MARS Arts DC for Washington Performing Arts, where he curated community engagement programs that showcased local talent and enriched the cultural fabric of D.C.
Currently serving as the Guitar instructor at the Duke Ellington School of the Performing Arts, DeAnte is actively shaping the next generation of musicians. His teaching blends technical mastery with fostering a deep appreciation for the discipline of self expression.
In addition to teaching, performing, and pursuing a Master of Music in Jazz Performance, DeAnte continues to explore the intersections of music, mental health, and education. His mission is to inspire, empower, and break barriers through artistic expression, utilizing its transformative potential to heal the world.
